We understand dealership operations. Whether it's new versus used sales, F&I, fixed ops, and everything in between, understanding this unique and highly regulated business is critical to providing the legal advice necessary to keep your dealership running smoothly. Other law firms and attorneys often need time to be "brought up to speed" on how your business works. Minnesota Dealer Law already possesses the necessary foundational knowledge of your business which allows us to provide quicker and more efficient legal services to your dealership.
Our business model is built on a "Fractional General Counsel" approach. Rather than simply being reactive to big issues that arise, our goal is to be a constant and proactive partner with dealers and their day-to-day operations so that small issues do not become big issues that often result in costly litigation and/or fines. Benjamin Franklin once said: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Early planning, regular communication, and thoughtful strategy is critical to controlling legal costs and therefore we have developed a fee structure that aligns with this philosophy.
Nand Mehra has 18 years of experience in the auto industry. He is a seasoned executive and has managed franchise dealerships in general management and other management roles.

Minnesota Statute 80E governs the relationship between a manufacturer and new motor vehicle dealer in Minnesota. This "franchise law" is the lifeblood for dealers as they manage the relationship with their manufacturers. Nand has extensive knowledge in this niche body of law, including recent changes to the law i.e. warranty reimbursement, vehicle model availability, and dealership area of responsibility or "sales effectiveness."
MN Dealer Law has experience in labor and employment law including litigation involving discrimination, discipline/termination, and employment misconduct, among other issues. MN Dealer law can provide dealers insight and work through numerous matters involving FMLA, ADA, hiring/firing as well as general compliance with the many federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Understanding the "fine print" requires specific knowledge and experience. Nand has reviewed, drafted, and negotiated hundreds of contracts unique to dealerships including dealer agreements, vendor agreements, and vehicle purchase agreements, to name a few. You can be confident knowing Nand understands what terms and conditions matter to your dealership and how to achieve positive results with your business partners.
A vehicle is often the most expensive purchase a person will make other than buying a home. With increased cost often comes increased regulation. MN Dealer Law can assist dealers all over Minnesota in navigating the myriad of state and federal regulations that govern what a dealership can, can't, or must do. From Buyer's Guides and dealer warranties to menu pricing and privacy notices, The law firm has helped numerous dealers successfully navigate the ever-growing regulatory minefield.
Not every sales or service customer winds up satisfied despite the best efforts of the dealership. Some of those customers complain directly to the dealership, state or federal regulatory agencies, or even conciliation or district court through a lawsuit. It is critical for the dealership to consult an attorney who understands the dealer's rights and responsibilities before responding to an unhappy customer. MN Dealer Law can assist dealerships in protecting their interests and reputation. Experience and early strategy have a significant impact on the final outcome of a dispute.
Almost every new vehicle dealership in Minnesota is held to the "Minnesota Automotive Advertising Standards," in addition to state and federal regulations. These standards are enforced by the Better Business Bureau of Minnesota. With extensive auto dealership experience, MN Dealer Law is uniquely qualified to assist dealers with their advertising practices.
